No, they’re never prevented. They’re just reborn. You could make that argument about any religion. According to Buddhism, religion isn’t even necessary, just the eradication of desire.

I believe in the bible ergo I don’t believe in other religions. Just because Buddhism tells me religion isn’t necessary doesn’t mean it’s true to me. In fact Buddhism is wrong through my eyes.

The Bible tells me I can go to heaven through only Jesus. By telling me I don’t need Jesus, to me, you’re preventing me from going to heaven. According to the bible I cannot go to heaven by valuing Buddhist beliefs.

sorry if my English sucks. I didn’t do well on the SAT’s

If I’m going to hell for believing in Buddhism then yes it is harmful. Just because Buddhists exist doesn’t mean I’ll die or go to hell as long as I don’t believe in it.

“By telling me I don’t need Jesus, to me, you’re preventing me from going to heaven.” I think I worded that wrong. I should have said:

Ah, but you only think you would…if I was Buddhist, I would be very offended by now. But I’m not.

Buddhism as a religion is not harmful to you unless its sheer existence harms you. Otherwise, it would be the belief in Buddhism that would harm you, which is a very different thing.
