<p>The Wikipedia thing sounds really cool. I did my own (as you can see): I used a quote from an obscure author as a jumping-off point to essentially ask, “How do you want to die? How do you want to live?” Which I know is weird and probably a bit macabre, but I’ve always found them both pretty interesting :-p</p>

<p>I wrote the single most ridiculous, and yet fantastic, piece of my life for this essay. Let’s just say that it involved a favorite childhood poet, a favorite superhero (lacking a distinct superpower) and Terry Fator, the ventriloquist who won season 2 of America’s Got Talent. Also included was a paper airplane folded into a jet fighter, a math problem, and one undeniably outlandish explanation of “El Pythagoro’s” Theorem.</p>

<p>i’m surprised by the number of ppl who submitted their own. a lot of uchic threads were with people squealing about how absolutely amazing the essay prompts were, which led me to feel a tad left out… since i wasn’t doing one. but yay ~ original prompters unite!</p>

<p>I thought I would be writing the story one, then I changed my mind to the borges y yo. finally just three days before submission I wrote the picture one!! :slight_smile: The essay topics were so great!!!</p>

<p>Oh, no, DS wrote his Chicago essays first, before starting on any others. His essays were written specifically for UChicago. They got the most love. Some of them he was able to modify and use elsewhere, but others did not translate well (esp. his Question 5). His Question 5 was 1300+ words; it was an OK version at 1000 and totally befuddling at 500.</p>

<p>Mine was totally original also…I didn’t even bother with the common app…I only applied to UChicago…so go copy-paste somewhere else! Oh, you screwed it all up - did you change it to 7 on purpose?</p>
