This is ridiculous. Whatever happened to “live and let live”? I disagree with the personal attacks, but parent2009, I think you’re being a tad hypocritical when you accuse others of “hurling insults”.
If that isn’t a thinly veiled insult I don’t know what it is.

I respect your opinion, but honestly, do you need to be so vehement about it? Is it really that big of an issue?

I agree, driver. A refrigerator magnet hardly does the job. I am thinking more along the lines of a yard sign or a billboard. I wonder what the rolling sign in Times Square would run me?

I am simply stunned. Look, let me spell this out once more. IF you had come to this thread and said, “I don’t happen to have any bumper stickers or decals on my car,” you would clearly NOT have met with this critcism. However, when you use terms such as “nauseating” and “boorish,” you open yourself up for similarly negative sentiments to be hurled YOUR way. It’s all about RESPECT 101 and “turnabout is fair play.” ~berurah

Jmm: I’m considering email spam. And annoying holiday letters. Times Square is a good one, tho. Maybe we could share a crawler, to defray costs?

Parent2009, I beg to differ - the Border Collie owners are simply advertising how astonishingly wonderful their dogs are. I see that sticker often because I compete in dog sports, and after years of watching hundreds of Border Collies rising to the top in herding, tracking, agility, rescue, and obedience, I gotta tell ya, 95% of them are AMAZINGLY intelligent. If you don’t train them - and train them skillfully - they will certainly train you. [We could start a quasi-serious discussion about whether there are any fundamental differences between the training and development of animal companions versus our children (my own answer is no, not really, but then I am not a speciest)].

The original intent of this post, BTW, was to have another low-stress, college-oriented bit of fun with my respected colleagues on CC.

I desperately want a Border Collie. Maybe when S leaves home next year. My best friend has one, he is unbelievable with balls, children, etc. He actually “herds” my little Bichon around…I guess he looks like a little lamb to him. BCs are much
smarter than honor students.

This is an obligatory post. jmmom and driver have both responded to your sinister war cries of sarcasm, and therefore so must I, since we operate as a self-satisfying cohesive mob.

In keeping with my pretentious and braggy nature, I actually had a HUGE stork “It’s a Boy!” sign placed in my yard when my fourth was born! It was AWESOME, and yes, blush, I WAS bragging about my new baby boy!! I would have done it for the others, but the rest were winter babes and the ground was too hard to get the sign post in!! lol

OMG, berurah- I had the stork for the birth of both my kids! I thought it was cool. I wonder if I could get a big Penn Quaker to put in the yard!

Please forgive the hijack, but did anyone else watch the Westminster Dog show on TV? My 16 year old is home sick, with the worst virus he’s had since toddlerhood, and we watched quite a bit of it yesterday and today. I love the toy breeds the best, but some of those dogs are just so beautiful! Our beloved Schnauzer died at 16, and we’ve never had the heart to get another one, but I’m tempted after watching the dog show…

Well, THAT was included in the birth announcement…an also on the onesie in which I brought him home!! lol

My poor OTHER kids…had to settle for a HUGE banner covering the front door, complete with name and birth details (length, weight, day and time of birth…oh, and future college! lol).

Believe it or not, on my son’s birth announcement, I actually did have a running theme, which turned out to be appropriate. I guess I should add that I had one on my daughter’s announcement, too, and it turned out NOT to be appropriate.

driver, if you want a BC, I hereby give you permission to get one! Right here and now! (Isn’t that a relief?)

If you get a puppy, I respect that decision (parents eye CERFed, hip OFAed, etc.). I was also involved in BC rescue for a few years, so if you are interested in contacting some good rescue organizations, PM me.
