I’m really amused by the “attractiveness” conversation. It is fairly true on both sides, but you’ll get that at any top school you go to (especially a liberal arts college). I think it’s fair enough to quote that as a “downside” of Pomona… but if that actually deters anyone from applying then I think you have some things to seriously think about!

As for my “PC” comment in the beginning… in the very beginning of your experience at Pomona, a lot of minority and women’s issues are drilled into you for about a week. These things come up again over and over in classes, lectures, etc. The student body certainly is super laid back, but I feel like a lot of the time people have just become so afraid to misspeak in case they may accidentally offend someone. I feel like the “worrying” of accidentally offending people almost causes less interaction between certain groups sometimes.

to my recollection (but I’m not 100% sure), the gender stats from the page you posted are for admitted, not enrolled, although its not labled either way. The yield for females at CMC is significantly lower than males…see section C1 for the class of '13 apply/admit/enroll numbers…the female/male yield pattern has been consistent over the past few years that I have been observing.

Yes, I did go check after Parent 57 comments. I was surprised that they accepted considerably more women, yet they have more men. I do think that the stats on my link show the Freshman Class (because it is the title) not the admitted students. I would wonder why all this is the way it is, but this is Pomona’s forum, so I will stop discussing CMC :-)
