In the East, you should look at WPI (underrated, excellent school and you will get merit money), Northeastern (overrated, overpriced, but they have a great internship program and your son will have a job when he gets out), and Olin (a reach for anyone, but they have a really innovative approach to engineering that MIT is looking out. Also, if you get in, it’s an automatic half ride. In NY, look at RIT. Very good school, but I don’t know much about it except that my jerk ex-husband graduated from there.
