yeah, all this California lingo is a bit intimidating. I was talking to one of my California friends the other day (I live in Maryland, by the way), and she used “weak sauce.” I mean, is it REALLY necessary to use condiments in our speech? If so, I propose several better ones…take, for example:
-“heavy mustard”…as in, dude, that Plato is heavy mustard
-“petit peanut butter”…as in, wow, that 50 character “essay” was petit peanut butter
OR, and I’ve saved the best for last (drumroll please)!
-“karmic katsup”…as in, dudette, murder isn’t very good karmic katsup

Comments? Questions on proper usage? Inquiries as to my sanity? ;p hit up the AIM at wwoodpecker22

I agree with idler…I think the Stanford board is a lot less fiesty and less competitive than some of the IVY boards. some ppl on those boards are just MEAN and downright elitists. that’s why I LOVE stanford :)

wait…so east coasters dont use “dude” and “like?” crap, oops i only applied to 2 west coast schools out of the 11 total. now that i think about it, im one of only a couple people using those words. (i live in kansas)…oh noooo…what am i doing on the stanford board? i didnt even apply here.
btw, ive only really heard “hella” used with “hella tight” or “hella tite” or “hella weak”

haha…I love these boards. Everyone is just trying to contradict each other.

As for the notebook, I think it’s a great idea. It’s people like you who stands up to what the norm dictates you shouldn’t WHO WILL become great leaders some day.

haha, either that or I am just too optimistic. Oh well

One suggestion…on the Harvard board, “ZUMA ROSTER” or something, there are a lot of stats. You can copy those stats down and make a webpage for Harvard EA applicant stats. Maybe you can start one for Stanford also. Next, come up with likely interview questions. Go to different websites to look up interview questions.

Also, come up with a list of interesting books to read about colleges. One thing that is pretty interesting is THE TRUTH ABOUT HARVARD.

This is just a start. Once you get the ball rolling, everyone will be more interested. People like to jump on the bandwagon when everythign gets popular. I bet that your site will be VERY POPULAR to next year’s group of seniors.

I really don’t have a lot of time or computer intellect to know how to do it, but I’ll try to help in any way I can if you need it.

Regarding “hella”- I have heard that it is the west coast equivalent of “wicked.” So, “that is hella awesome” translates to “that is wicked awesome.”

I don’t know if that is valid or not, however. I think it may only be eccentric pockets of east coasters who actually say “wicked.”

As a New Englander myself, I can admit that “wicked” is a very common slang term here. It’s definitely the area’s equivalent of “hella.” But I think that it’s only in New England and not the rest of the East Coast.
