Post Your Admission Decision Here

Well, I too applied to Brown, but I’m not sure. I was rejected from Wash U, personally.

I’d like to think that if you get accepted to Amherst, you will also get accepted to Brown, since they do overlap, a LOT. But, the college admissions process is still surprising me, very much.

The admissions websites of schools are particularly lacking since the websites pick and choose what data they wish to publish… This is the admission data from the Amherst College common data set (which almost every school voluntarily fills out) for fall 2009 admission.
https://www.amherst.edu/media/view/169038/original/2009%20First-Time%2C%20First-Year%20(Freshman)%20Admission.pdf

It’s all there…

Total applicants:
7679 (3368 M, 4311 F)
Total offered admission:
1227 15.9%
Total enrollees:
467 (237 M, 230 F)

Waitlist: yes
Waitlist ranked: no
Number of applicants offered waitlist position: 1217
Number of applicants accepting offer of waitlist: 562
Number of applicants offered admission from waitlist: 0

I thought admission rate was 15.2

Rainbowcandy,

It would be nearly impossible for the admissions rate this year to be 10%. That would imply about 810 acceptances, and a yield of 57%, which would be 50% higher than the historical yield rate (which is about 38%). The admit rate this year will be somewhere between 14.5% and 15.5%.
