I probably should have clarified myself. Although you asked specifically about RISD, I was referring to art schools in general and because you have done a foundation year, I assumed by now you had an intended major. By specialization I mean, for example, if someone was going for char animation at a place like Calarts, that someone would need to focus on figure drawing and poses instead of photography… that kind of thing.

You’re probably right about RISD, and I am not trying to lead you astray or anything with your portfolio. The only knowledge I have is from what my cousin told me he did to get in but I guess things have changed since he applied five years ago. Good luck with your admission and let us know how you do.

The schools I’m applying for unfortunately won’t allow me to put down the digital work completely I think. This is probably where me and you differ, the programs I am applying to are not focused on traditional art as the only means of admission, they are focused on entertainment design and conceptualization. And that’s not to denigrate fine arts at all, fine arts will improve my digital work! Here are two portfolio’s from random people who got accepted to ACCD:
[Irish Breakfast Grey Tea Fast: My Art Center Entertainment Design Portfolio (for Fall 2013)](http://irbreayteast.blogspot.com/2013/02/my-art-center-entertainment-design.html)

[Two Genius Designs: Art Center Entertainment Design Entrance Portfolio 2012 (Hansel and Gretel)](http://twogeniusdesigns.blogspot.com/2012/04/art-center-entrance-portfolio-2012-i_09.html)

(^^ p.s the work here belongs to Julia and Andrew Charlton respectively ^^)

I do obviously have a lot of work to do. I’m going to portfolio day in october in Chicago. Thanks for you advice about the environments, I’ll add in the line-work. I am looking forward to foundation art courses. If I get accepted anywhere I will probably start off as a freshman and take a year of foundation anyways.
