Potential Beginning Knitter Needs Advice

I cross stitch and sew, so maybe I can learn to knit. I was REALLY good at macram

I haven’t cross stitched in years , but I loved it and was decent at it. Tried quilting - loved the hand quilting but didn’t love machine work (of course my machine was a cheap more basic than basic model)

MD Mom, I can’t cross stich or sew, and my one attempt at macrame back in the day ended in total defeat and humiliation.

Yet I knit, so … YOU CAN KNIT !

(PS If MD stands for medical doctor, then you passed organic chemistry. If you can pass organic chemistry you can knit!)

MD = Maryland. I changed my major because of chemistry.

I never attempted college chemistry. And I still knit! :)

If you need inspiration, go to Ravelry (dot) com. It’s the best!

I think I’m ready to break out my knitting basket! I bought knitting needles of various sizes at a thrift store recently and now I’m trying to choose a quick project to get me going. Last year, my friends and I made infinity scarves. I may make more, only “fancier”! Thanks to this thread!

This has been inspirational…I have not knitted for 20+ years but am going to start again with infinity scarves for Christmas presents as a result of seeing this thread.

You people are making me so excited and I’m happy that some of you are inspired to start learning or just start knitting again!

Maybe we will have to start a projects thread - I’m looking forward to scouring Pinterest for simple projects - after I get signed up for a class!!!

The woman who cleans my house has given me several knitted cotton dishclothes. They are quite nice.
