Potential Transfer to better engineering schools [from Penn State]

I would let it go. Based on what you are reporting it seems he is happy and successful at his current school and is not looking to transfer.

Based on this, I’m not sure why a transfer is even being considered. The student sounds happy, successful, and involved at Penn State. That is a win!

Is this (prestige hunting transfer) idea coming from the student or the parent?

Few land an internship after first year from any school. If he does that, he’s far ahead of most every college student.

This is excellent! It sounds like your son is doing exactly the right things.

It is generally difficult to get an internship as a freshman. I recall one daughter trying, but not actually getting an internship until the summer after her sophomore year. This is still ahead of average, and did help her quite a bit going forward. Regardless of whether your son gets an internship this early, it sounds like he is doing very well.

I think that you have very good reason to be proud of your son.

Your son is an adult. Why are we not seeing him here asking these questions? Seems like he is happy at PSU and you’re not happy with the “prestige” or whatever. And to that, I would say, respectfully, get over it.

Since it seems that everyone is saying the same thing, I’m closing this thread to avoid piling on to the OP.
