Unless you are built like Sir Charles 6’4" is a bit small for a Div I three or four…

There is no “pre-med” major. Normally students major in one of Chemistry, Biology or Physics. So you can pretty much go to any school you like for that.

As others have pointed out, colleges don’t decide who get athletic scholarships the coaches of the individual sports do - so unless you get recruited to play Bball there won’t be an athletic scholarship available. You can be proactive and send stats and video to coaches at smaller schools who may not have the budget to do extensive recruiting.

Can you play college basketball and do well enough to get into medical school? Yes, but it’s rare, the time commitments can be staggering.

While D3 schools say they don’t give athletic scholarships, it’s amazing to me how often the same schools are at the top of athletic polls each year and strong athletes end up with full rides at those schools. A niece was recruited to play volleyball at a D3 “power”, she was given a full ride merit and “need” based scholarship even though her family income was well into the 6-figures. The day she arrived on campus she was also given a “recommended” training regimen that covered the next 11 months of her life and introduced to her academic adviser who only advised other team members. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck…

My recommendation is, barring getting recruited, that you concentrate on smaller schools - many that have been recommended here - and look for merit aid; it seems like a more likely positive outcome.

Skings, we are kind of in the same boat… I want to go premed and get a running scholarship. Try going for small DI schools with high academics (*LAC! LAC!)… ALSO, most schools have athletic questionairres on their websites that you can fill out. I’ve gotten some letters and stuff from schools asking for info as well. Coaches can officially contact you July 1st… PM me if you want more info on schools and stuff. :)
