Pre screens

@winnieroot, I know a few kids who passed all their prescreens and ended up not getting into any auditioned program. And I know more who passed all their prescreens and ended up getting into just one or two schools that had no prescreens. Many of the schools use pre-screens to only knock out the kids that really, absolutely, stand no chance at all of getting into that particular school. Others use prescreens to really winnow down the pool of applicants to what they are looking for (e.g., when my D auditioned at Indiana 2 years ago, they told the kids that only 98 passed the prescreen…not sure if they do it the same way these days. But even that is not based solely on talent. They know what they are looking for in terms of looks, voice type, gender, etc.). As several have pointed out, while talent is a prerequisite for getting in, there are so many other factors that there are talented kids who do not get in to auditioned programs. Or only one. You can’t predict what is going to happen. Period. Good luck.
