Yes, I’m applying to GS and L’ville as well but Exeter is probably my top choice with GS not par behind. The other two interviews are coming up, but they’re skype.
Also, fyi for anyone who reads this: don’t worry too much about your outfit! It adds unnecessary stress and is not that important.
Thanks everyone for the support!!
Hey y’all, I’m a Taft freshman!
The dress code for guys is collared shirts, and they can wear a sweater over it (no hood). However, this rule is so loose. It seems like every guy wears a hoodie! Only a few teachers like to enforce this rule
For girls, its the common no skirt or dress or shorts above fingertip length, but this rule is often violated. Also, just a trend, skirts and dresses in 0 degree weather. Yep, we see that a lot, and I’m guilty of that as well. No crop tops, but they let that slide sometimes too.
For everyone, no shorts between October and March, no blue denim (but you can have other color jeans), no hooded sweatshirts. That’s basically it.
The dress code doesn’t apply after the last class bell rings.
At Choate, we never thought much about a dress code, simply that there wasn’t a “requirement” for formal clothes at sit-down meals (very few in a year). Our DD, now a junior, certainly didn’t have any issues, and has never brought it up. I think it’s one less thing to think about among all the stuff they have to juggle…
I would agree with @CavsFan2003 comment in #6 above
“Anyway Choate has probably the most relaxed dress code of any boarding school frequently discussed on CC”
