@bullfrog21 I think it’s really hard to know how they make these decisions. My son has a 35 ACT, 3.9/4.3 g.p.a. Fair extracurriculars but no sports or leadership. Rank is 7 out of 240. Seven AP classes plus two more this year (he did make a “2” on one of those). He will graduate with 39 dual enrollment hours and is taking Intermediate Accounting this year, which is arguably the toughest business class Ole Miss offers. His accounting teacher wrote him a rec, which might have helped. Also, Georgia says they don’t take geography into account for admissions, but they might for scholarships. I’m not sure they get very many applicants from Mississippi even though it’s somewhat close geographically.
Changing the subject slightly, but not getting the Ramsey was a disappointment, but the King scholarship makes UGA a viable choice, so after all is said and done we’re not “disappointed” at all. We’ve just got to spend some time visiting around and letting my son decide what he wants to do.
