Prestigious but friendly schools for engineering

College is very different from high school or even community college. You should contact the women in engineering community at any school and discuss the campus environment with them.

Have you considered counselling … bullying is an external force, but you can choose to handle people who are difficult in a variety of ways. Your illness as a youth might have some residual effect too and may be making it difficult to relate to people.

Georgia Tech is a great school and may work well for you. The UCs are really difficult to get into engineering anyway.

Large state schools typically have very diverse student bodies and everyone can find their soul mates …

I doubt you will encounter women that bully in any engineering school … and if you meet one, it is very easy to avoid them basically forever (walk away if in class, roommate issues can be handled by your RA or you could request a private room). The men should be nice … remember that only 0.5% could ever even be a first date and work on friendships and groups of friends.

My only hesitation with going far away from your family is that you will lose their support.

So since truthfully, it is a rare aerospace program that would have any offerings before sophomore or even junior year, would you consider staying in Oregon (other thread) and then transfering ? Your parents have money and GTech will charge you the same, and you will get a good education in Oregon closer to home.

Well I’ve considered being a transfer but so many people advise against transferring!
