<p>YES, get the ID card at Preview if at all possible. The lines can be an hour long at Orientation(or more if you get there later in the day), and you really want to get that early. One you have it, it opens doors, literally. </p>
<p>Also, go to the SunTrust bank and set up the free FSU linked checking account at Preview. If you have leftover Prepaid/Bright Futures/scholarship/book awards it is much faster getting it back by an instant transfer to your card than by waiting weeks for a check. And the same FSU card is a DEBIT card for the Suntrust Account. So you can place your spending money on it and use the card in place of cash NOT ONLY around campus BUT around Tally and in your community. It can be used as a DEBIT card wherever you can swipe and put in a PIN number–fast food restaurants, department stores, Walgreens, Walmart. It can’t be used where a business takes a DEBIT card like a credit card and swipes and you sign, but anywhere you can swipe and put in a PIN. And so many more businesses have the little keypads attached to their registers. </p>
<p>The Suntrust account is a no fee checking account. You can get money out at no charge at any SunTrust money machine. You can set up an online link to your account and wake up to check your balance every day. You can order checks (they are cheaper at Checks Unlimited etc online) but just remember to balance you checkbook and remember when you go online to check your balance that checks can take days/weeks to clear. JUST DON’T OVERDRAW.</p>
<p>On the bright side, they will refund your FIRST $35 charge when you stop in and ask and explain it was the first time… D can vouch for that ;). Hasn’t been a second time.</p>
