I laugh when I hear about how easy is it today to get your ID card and get registered.

When I was a freshman in the 1970s this exercise was a test of endurance and mettle…you waited in line in the summer heat and humidity behind hundreds of other freshmen to get your ID card, then you got to go to Tully Gym (no A/C) to pull cards for classes. At Tully Gym, you tried to figure out a schedule then waited in a large line for each opportunity to pull a card…if there were any cards, that is. All upperclassmen pulled cards first and lowly freshmen got the leavings. The hotter it got the shorter tempers and the longer the lines became and I’m sure you get the picture.

It was not a five miles, uphill each way, barefoot in the snow, eating dirt and glad of it type of event but it is much better today. :)
