price of a gallon of gas in your state "today"

BTW just have to throw this out, a common mis-conception is that Premium gas is somehow ‘better’ than regular. People think it will give your car more power, better gas mileage, etc. NOT TRUE. It just has higher octane, which means that it burns slower.

Some cars (usually only high performance cars) need this to prevent pinging, which means the gas explodes in the cylinder before it’s supposed to. Usually occurs in cars with higher compression. If your car does not ping on regular gas then there is NO ADVANTAGE to running premium fuel. If your car pings (pre-ignition) on regular gas, then yes, premium gas will give you more horsepower and better gas mileage.

OH yeah, gas is $4.31 for regular, SF east bay

Just paid $3.33 @ Costco the other day, but as reported in our newspapers, it’s over $6 at some stations in our state. The stations that display prices on our island & nearer our home have it pegged close to $4/gallon for regular. It is very expensive & fortunately helping ease traffic congestion as more people are figuring out different ways to get around than driving their own vehicles–sharing rides, bus, walking. It does make driving not quite as stressful.

Dad said he stopped filling mom’s car the other day when it cost >$90 & still wasn’t full (old car with big tank). Not sure what that accomplished but he was just that surprised as to how much the total was rising to all at one time (fortunately mom doesn’t drive very far, so her car isn’t filled all that often).

Saw $5 for premium in the city of Chicago in the last two days. Was not tempted to stop.

In reading this, I am surprised how many people actually use anything above regular grade (87)- well except for owners of high performance engines… Anyway, So. Calif. (Ventura County) I paid $4.17 yesterday for regular.

$3.79 in Houston at Sam’sClub (typically 7-8 cents cheaper than anywhere else). I always use the cheapest kind. My cars run fine!

Southern New Hampshire
4.03 Regular
4.17 Plus
4.27 Premium

No, I know what I said.

$3.89 for Regular, Lehigh Valley, PA

Orange County, CA for regular:

$4.15 Costco
$4.27 Chevron

Man I am an idiot!
4.28/gal Northern Michigan. Wishful thinking on my earlier post.

Southern Tier of NY…$4.06 (87 octane)

$4.25 (87 octane) 25 miles north of NYC

$4.33 for regular – about 10 miles west of Hartford, CT.

$3.95 for regular, across the river from Harrisburg, PA.

$3.79 in Dallas. If I were a couple of cities away visiting my parents, I think it would be a good 10-20 cents a gallon cheaper.

Wisconsin. $4.09 regular (87) for the viewing area cities per the local tv news- they have been reporting the area average prices for a long time.

$3.60 in east Tennessee and $3.45 with Food City discount points.

$4.29 last Sunday and $4.19 yesterday.

^^^ The price actually went down??? We can only hope that will happen here …

I am sure the prices are a little higher now, but going to visit my D over Easter at her school, the prices went from $3.95 here in Rochester to $3.85 in Erie and $3.75 once I got into Ohio. Wonder how much of the difference is the difference in taxes between states and not the gas itself…
