Princeton Class or 2021 EA / RD Application thread

@hgfedcba - The Princeton FA office email I have is: pfaa@princeton.edu.

Try that email. Also, if you’re attending one of their Preview Day events, take your financial documents that could make your case in your favor.

thank you again @TiggerDad

Hey hgfedcba

I faced the same issue. I sent them an email at faoffice@princeton.edu.
They replied after about 10 days with a slight increase in the Princeton grant.
However, my family’s current contribution still exceeds the amount we indicated we could afford (on the FA Application) by about USD 10,000.

I accepted Princeton’s offer, but they haven’t sent me an acknowledgement email back. Nor have they said anything about the stuff I need to do after acceptance!

@hvkb99 They’ll send you a short letter confirming your attendance in a few weeks. Don’t worry, nothing else happens until May, when you’ll get access to Your Path to Princeton (to fill out all the forms).

I chose Notre Dame over Princeton. Hoping that gives someone on the waitlist a spot!

Hi everyone! I was accepted to Bucknell University with presidental fellows program, but decided to attend another school. My best friend was waitlisted from bucknell, and I am thinking about writing a letter of reccomendation for her along with the letter for declining the offer. Do you think it can help or hurt her? (Assuming the reccomendation is good)

Um…no.

Hi guys,
I heard Princeton is one of the binding early decision schools to apply EA…what if you do not attend the school? Is it different with regular decision? What if you cannot afford it/something comes up?
Thanks. Sorry for my stupid questions.

@wydlife You are mistaken. Princeton is not an early decision school; it is an early action school. It is not a binding admissions program. If you are accepted to Princeton SCEA, you are not required to matriculate to the school. However, if you do apply to Princeton early action, you are only allowed to apply to one private school (in this case, Princeton) early. This policy is in place so that you can’t apply to, say, Harvard and Princeton early. Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, and Yale all have restrictive early action programs. MIT has an early action program with no restrictions (at least that’s what I think). All of the other Ivies and their peer institutions have binding early decision programs. Sorry for the long post but I hope this helps!

@wydlife Princeton does not have binding Early Decision in which you must attend if given admission. They Single Choice Early Action in which you apply to Princeton early and you hear back in mid-December. You are not allowed to apply to any other private school early but you can apply to public schools early and schools with rolling admission. If you receive admission in December you don’t have to commit until May 1st like RD.

@dolemite, did your daughter decide on Princeton? Nice!

@Ceciliaagnes Yes she did! She’s very excited and we’re excited to have her 45 minutes away

@Dolemite, it’s been amazing watching all of her acceptances; we had a few in common, but she had far more. I too will be going to Princeton. Maybe I will meet her someday.

@Ceciliaagnes It looks like you had some great choices and a hard decision. Like I told my daughter I hope you’re aware of what you’ve gotten yourself into

I’m sure you’ll both come out the other end much better for the experience.
