PRINCETON ED APPS, what are you sat scores?

awwww poor kid. haha. hopefully u both get in! :-D

I’ll post when I get my Nov scores. Oh okay, for now I have a 1420. 720V 700M

So… I haven’t sent my scores officially yet. I designated Princeton as recipient for the Nov test. Do they get it two weeks after I get it or do they get it instantly into this database I hear about?

Mahajan, do tell more about the 1-5 scale (if there is more to it, that is)

Yeah Zant and I are both trying to get in but I think she has a much better chance than I do :stuck_out_tongue: Sometimes I feel like I have a reasonable chance, and other times I feel that I have none at all… the SAT I just took didn’t go so well in my mind, but we’ll just have to see

astrix, I believe they get your score the same time as you do, if not earlier, electronically.

About the 1-5 Ranking - it was the admissions process for Princeton when Fred Haragon was still the Admissions Dean. Things may have changed since then. From what I’ve heard about that system, 1 is the highest rank an applicant can be awarded. For academics, a 1 is about 4/5 SAT scores above 700, more than 20 solid courses (about 23-24), good grades (generally straight A’s). For the extracurricular ranking, a 1 is for outstanding achievements: winning an Olympics medal, writing a book, patenting a product, breaking a Guiness World Record, etc.

Anyone know anything else about it?

above 700? crap. i got 690 v. but my sats 2s are all over that range tho… crap…

She was estimating, I think, pw.

i hope she is. cuz i know for duke. when they say 1480. they dont mean 1470…

Actually Keb, I read it as an excerpt from a book by Paul: “Getting In…” He shadowed Fred Haragon for an entire reading process then wrote a book about admission to elite colleges. I don’t actually own the book, though, so this is only what I remember from an excerpt I read.

that case, there will be lost of ones. since around 60 - 70% of ppl have 700+ testings.

yah, 60- 70% of the people on CC, that is. I doubt the numbers are that high in the real world.

that makes me feel a lot better about this…so we’re not just a random sampling of applicants, then…yay for us! how about that 60% acceptance? That’s better than some public state u’s, haha.

no definitely not. we are only like 50 outta 1000 or so early applications that they will receive…:-D

yeah well it beats being 50 out of the 18,000 they’ll receive in January

exactly! man, I hope I don’t get thrown into the RD pool. That’s the brutal one…

800M
800V
800MathIIc
800Writing
800Chemistry
800Literature
800Biology(M)
800History

Yes, standardized tests are one of my stronger areas.

Wow…? . . . . . . . .

slothrop, that is altogether not too impressive (in the sense that it can be done). Three people at my school have the exact same scores you do–and will probably be at Princeton or Cal Tech in the following year.

My only question is why didn’t you stop after three SAT2s?

oh sick, slothrop, just when we were beginning to feel okay about our chances… ;)
