I got my acceptance email on April 25
Congrats! Which one did you get accepted to?
I got into ECE - 03.
The PLL website says it’s still open, is it just not updated?
ECE-03 has a max 6 spots. It’s possible, though a bit unlikely, they still haven’t filled all the spots and hence the program is showing as OPEN. Just a guess.
They posted a message on the website asking people to NOT call or email them about application status. They will email only the accepted students and are still working to update the site. So, we just have to wait a bit longer.
A lot of programs still show open, are they actually open or have they just not updated the site?
I guess they are just not updated because many people received their acceptance recently.
Do you know if anyone got into ACEE1/2 already?
They updated the message. “Over 3000 applications this year”. So I guess we are toast if we haven’t heard anything yet.
Does anyone know if LSI-02 acceptances were sent ? It is OPEN in the site.
I don’t. But the professor said he had already chosen the students, I assume it is already “closed”.
most programs are closed. Only CBE-06, ECE-01, MAE-07, CHE-03, GEO-01, and MOL-01 are still open. Good luck! ( I got rejected from mae-01 still have hope for geo-01)
@Nuclear1 Congratulations on your acceptance!
I’m also planning to apply this summer and would love to hear about your journey. Could you share your experience and any key tips that helped strengthen your application? Your insights would be incredibly valuable!
For sure!
I am not sure if they changed the application this year so take my advice with that information in mind please. There were around 80 acceptances last year and around 3000 applicants. The program I was selected for gave me the opportunity to explore other labs on campus and branch out from my original lab. I absolutely loved the professors, graduate students, and peers I worked with.
For application advice, don’t be afraid to talk about how you have overcome adversities and how they make you unique. I walked into the program with little to no laboratory experience, however, I had taken an independent study class diving deep into my passions and did multiple literature reviews of a diverse range of topics and I mentioned that. I also talked about my leadership roles in STEM clubs and some of my core values concerning failure and learning. Finally, I made a clear connection to the internships I applied to and my passions and how I had already explored those passions through my studies.
This program did not ask for my GPA or SAT scores during my round of applications. I didn’t mention my grades or scores in any of my essays.
A final note:
This is a research program and they want people who are willing to learn. Learning and research are fundamentally linked to failure and how it allows you to grow.
Hope this helped and good luck!
@Nuclear1 thank you very much for your valuable advice.
