Probably Peculiar House Painting Question

I agree stucco could be problematic I think you would have to just gently scrub the soil off,in any case wait for it to dry before they begin painting.

We didn’t use a power washer for our house, although we did scrub it ( & sand a lot- well I didn’t sand I hate power sanders) I would just wash the windows that really drive you crazy & expect to have the windows cleaned after as well.

We get a lot of dirt, living in the city, plus our house is south facing- it is whitish- but I am going for a more soil friendly color when we paint ( so far it just got primered)

Dont want to hijack the thread but I like to hear what color people are using. We have vinyl covered double hung windows- but since in the front the windows actually don’t open ( we were trying to save money at the time), I want to replace all of them with ones that are paintable- do you think that will look funny?
But actually, the vinyl is ivoryish, & I am going to paint the trim that color ( mostly- I want to add another color too) it probably will look fine to me.
( & it couldn’t be any worse than what my neighbor did to his 1900 bungalow next door)

If they power wash make sure the shingles/clapboards are dry before they paint. They should not, IMO, be power washing one day and painting the next unless it is pretty warm out.

“I like to hear what color people are using”

Ok, FWIW:

Ours faces south too. When the prior owners replaced most of the windows, they didn’t touch the ones in our den (former screened porch, with different style windows). So the frames on those windows still have the original dark teal trim, as does the the trim on the house proper.

We will repaint all the trim and remaining wood window frames Benjamin Moore Brilliant White, which matches the color of the vinyl windows. So all the trim will finally be one color. The body of the house will be Onyx White. Unless my wife changes her mind. There were some other off-whites, and some grays, that I preferred, but I was outvoted.
