professor at UNC-Wilmington Mike Adams// A Thin-Skinned Minority Is Ruining This Nation

This must not be one of the huge “premed” classes where the majority of the students have a concern that s/he may miss one word uttered by the professor. It is rumored that if a student asks questions (esp. too many of them) like they are typically expected to do in a humanity or social science class, s/he would run the risk of being hated by his/her fellow students in the same class. The professor himself may shoot this discussion down quickly in a few words also because, more often than not, it is not worth the discussion. Arguably speaking, this type of class is the least engaging class from most intellectually-minded students’ point of view. The students are mostly there to absorb (like a sponge) whatever is taught in a relatively passive way. (Also heard the intellectual aspect of discussions could get worse from this point on. For example, if a professor intentionally or accidentally adventures to any math-y, more rigorous science treatment on the subject in physiology (like a BME class would do), these forever-grade-efficient students would think the professor kind of wastes everybody’s time – because this will not be tested in the nationalized test where it counts.
