some EC’s actually looked pretty amazing

pitseleh…lol- he’s on the math team with me :)

Wow pk is now a “senior member…” Sounds pretty serious;)

lol…it only leaves me to wonder when he gets the time to posts 1000+ posts in only 2 months…

Hehe but I think I hold the record for most posts in a day… 118 lol!

lol…yeah that should be included as one of the stats, maybe after the postcounts…lol…

They should have a “cc” awards day… An online one that is…Wont that be hilarious?

totally… pk would take the cake though:)

Meh, not really intimidated by any of these people. Every single one has weaknesses. I’ve seen much stronger people on this website. Maybe I’m cocky but I could take these people :D

I have a feeling that the newspaper does not quite show the complete picture of the applicants. I bet the research is not exactly what it seems along with many other things. Although some of the applicants im sure are quite good. I would only call 2 of them amazing applicants. I consider a super applicant one with no flaws. A low SAT score or anything else elminates someone from being a super-applicant

i think the point of the article is to show the amazing things kids are doing- sure none of those can be considered amazing in the entire scheme of things, but they each have something that fifty years ago would be unfeasible for a kid

ya, they all just excel and shine in one aspect or another.

True, good point. I want that girl to go to Princeton (assuming I get in). She is really pretty. I bet she is Jewish, good for me. Parents would be happy. Double legacy at Princeton for our kids. Wow this is going to far. Dare to dream.

“Princeton rejected four out of every five valedictorians who applied last year.”- oy lol

No offense but that statistic is extremely misleading. They also accepted 20% of every valedictorian who applied which is definitely higher than the average. Also, if you think that you can get into an Ivy by being solely a valedictorian then you dont have a very good shot at college admissions.

well… that’s still better than the overall acceptance rate i guess

why do they give us these articles to read? a boohoo…

it feeds the hype about how super-competitive college admissions has become

a hype that is not unfounded. more sat prep courses, books, more kids trying to stand out and impress adcoms w/ crazy EC’s

By CC standards those guys aren’t all that impressive…

Though I agree, if looks scored you points for admission, that girl would have a definite edge.

And Mitch: Why would a jewish girl go to a catholic parochial school?

True but I know a fair share of jewish girls that go to catholic schools. Also, I thought the last name of Sachs sounded somewhat Jewish. Stop spoiling my dreams man.
