Prog grades are out!

ooooo. AETC, huh? terrible time, but great experience. definetely the most useful program overall that i did here, beating even jump, powered flight, and beast. no where near the most fun, but learning leadership from TIs: there’s nothing like it

I had some good times in AETC. Definitely one of the most draining programs, but it generates some of the funniest stories too!

Everyone seems to think TIs are all alike, but they’re not.

I have a question for you all when you have a minute. I remembered listening to the rant about the astro program and thought I’d throw my question in here!

-What is your opinion (especially those about to graduate) about the success of the core curriculum at USAFA? Does the liberal arts concept impress upon you the “whole academic picture” or is it over specialized liberal arts?

For example instead of teaching broad engineering concepts to non-engineering students, it teaches concepts that are so specialized (such as the torsion angle of a two inch steel bar in EngrMech 220, etc).

Additionally, do you think the ability to move more into your field of study (your academic major or your AFSC) sooner by removing several of the core classes would be a pro or con to the academic process?

Why I ask is I’m writing a paper for one of my classes as a review of the “core” program and I’m finding many, including a few professors, are not thrilled with the current program. If you do say anything, it wouldn’t be used in any way in which you could be identified or anything along that lines. I’m just interested in what you all think to expand my research base.

If ya got time and want to answer either post it here or send me a PM (and don’t think I just want to hear negatives. If you strongly support it, tell me!)

point number one:

why the heck are you thinking about your paper over Spring Break?!?!?!?

haha. ummm… honestly i don’t have a problem with it. I think it’s nice to be introduced to different things, and i think learning how to approach various different problems its what’s more useful than necessarily the answers. but i need to look at SB pics now… good luck with the paper!
