Project Runway Season 12

I think they’re going easy on Justin to justify fact he had the Tim gunn save

Here’s my “producer conspiracy theory” thought: Knowing that they have some tough eliminations coming up, when Kate made a completely horrendous outfit, they took advantage of that to eliminate her. They kept Alexandria because she will be the next “easy” elimination. Alexander got caught in the “we’ve only got so-many episodes left and we have one too many designers” timeframe, so when his design was off, he was out too. Justin will be another easy elimination; while he seems like a wonderful person (did you see the tears when he found out he was surprisingly safe and Kate was out?), he just isn’t quite as strong a designer as Bradon and Dom. Helen has her strong moments, but like a previous poster said, she’s too insecure.

I’m rooting for Bradon.

I almost dropped my drink when Alexandria was safe. That skirt gave her model a tummy! I have to admit that when I saw Justin’s dress float down the aisle, I liked it. It wasn’t until they showed it on the model while standing that I saw the flaws. Kate’s look was hideous this week, but I thought they would keep her until the finale.

I have loved Dom from the beginning, but I would be pleased with Bradon as well. What Dom seems to do more than the others is dress a specific woman. She is not trying to be all things to all people. Unfortunately that woman is not me or a Belk woman so I can see that hurting her. Bradon makes lovely clothes, but I don’t see his “look” yet, even after all these weeks.

Was anyone surprised Alexandria von Bromssen was safe? I thought her raggy black vest over the low slung wrap skirt was really ugly.

Kate Pankoke’s design was bad, but I was sorry to see her go.

Any predictions on who will go the distance? I am thinking Dom Streater, Helen Castillo, and Bradon McDonald with Dom the winner.

I don’t know guys…it seems like we are being set up for a big surprise. Most everyone who watches the show has already picked the same top three and this is where they will zing us.

My gut tells me that either Justin will be in the top three OR they will decide to allow 4 designers to come up with a runway show and then do a last minute elimination.

I am relieved that Kate was eliminated. I have mostly thought her designs were over appreciated. Alexandria this week, I think, should have been out as well. Justin, while a nice guy, is not that great of a designer, nor was Alexander, so his offing wasn’t as much a surprise. Like most everyone, I assume Dom, Helen and Braden to the finale. I have liked Dom, and most of her designs, from the start.

I agree Alexandria’s was awful. Don’t know how she escaped being in the bottom. I don’t know how she has survived this long. But Kate’s was just horrendous.

All I will say is that Braden aside - and maybe Dom , though her personality is starting to annoy me - this is a very weak top 6 . Pathetic. Alexandria is sub par and while he’s a sweetie, Justin is as well. Helen has got lucky - take away all the advice she has been given by others and she would never have made it this far - she is VERY immature.

IMO, besides Braden, there are no Mondos in this crew. :(

At this point I would be happy even for a Santino or a Jeffrey Sebilia. :)

Alexandria’s outfit was horrible. I was just waiting for the jokes about the model having been caught in a wind turbine or something; was shocked when she was “safe”. Of course the other three bottom looks were really bad, too.

Alexandria has managed to skate by because there has always been (arguably) three people worse than her. For the life of me, I can’t understand her aesthetic.

And I’m going to go out on a limb here - based on the pictures I’ve seen of the final collections, I think Justin will win, which would justify Tim Gunn’s save.

I had to go look up the pictures after you said that, fireflyscout! Wow, there were some really bizarro looks in there (I’m talking to you, Alexander and Alexandria!) but I think I liked Kate’s the best. Too bad she’s not going to be a contender. If I was voting based solely on the final collection, I’d pick Bradon. I think.

Do you think they axed Alexander based on his conduct in the Ken incident the week before? (it was a hideous dress, but not worse than Kate’s. Loved the one comment that Kate’s looked like a tampon).

I’m always surprised at how conservative Helen’s clothes are, given her goth appearance. (Who else has noticed that her fingernails are filed like daggers)

Looking at the collections again, I feel Bradon’s collection was very commercial, which makes me wonder if he isn’t an eliminated contestant. Looking at Kate and Jeremy’s collections they seem to be designing for their target audience.
If Helen wins with that collection, I will stop watching the show. I did like Dom’s, Justin’s and Bradon’s collection.

No comments for this past week??

wrong: Justin has to compete for a spot when the judges acted like they liked his work!
Wrong: Kate got knocked off when she has one ad week, but Alexandria and Helen get multiple chances!
Wrong: Helen was clearly the worst last night but gets another chance to redeem.

Ugh. I hate when the show feels slanted.

I like Braden, but I think his dress was just weird. Dom’s was my favorite, but I only saw two prints and the judges kept saying she mixed three. I really thought she should have won.

I don’t get the logic here either. Alexandria has done tons of ugly stuff and is still there. Kate does one really, really godawful dress and she’s gone. Do they judge on degree of ugly? LOL

Do wish Kate was still there! Guess she already had her big second chance just by being on the show again.
MM1215–Dom had 3 prints-pants, jacket and its piping (which you really couldn’t discern on TV). They did show the piping in the work room. Really great jacket and the jumpsuit was pretty too–surprised there wasn’t a chance to show it on the runway.
I think the judging was right–Alexandria, Justin and Helen have all gotten passes at some point or another and all have individual strengths and weaknesses.
Personal opinion–I thought Alexandria should have gone home–some of her stuff is just plain ugly. Those dropped bottom shorts she had one week was enough for me.

Didn’t think Helen’s orange dress was the worst: I thought Alexandria’s black spider costume was (which is why the judges had a split vote). Helen’s construction probably saved her. I wonder what would have happened if Helen had sent the coat down the runway that she had spent so much time on. It looked way more avant garde than the dress she made but Gunn talked her out of it. Gunn almost got Braden to give up his tubie things too which ultimately made him win.

I liked Dom’s design the best this week. Braden also deserves to show at Fashion Week. I think it’s a cop-out that the judges didn’t eliminate anyone this week, but don’t all of these designers have to make collection for Fashion Week, even if it’s only a decoy collection?

I’m curious to see how things will play out next week. IMO, the only one that should have gone was Alexandria (and it would have been way overdue) and they should have had 4 showing at Fashion Week.

I have to admit that I was unsure how Bradon and Dom’s avant garde looks would go over with the judges. They were both truly avant garde and whoever said Lady Gaga would love Bradon’s dress was on the mark. As for Dom, I think she has a great instinct for wearable haute couture. When I first saw the print mixing she was planning in the work room I was seriously confused. Put together, I cannot see any “real” woman wearing that outfit (but that was not the challenge anyway) but as separates they are fantastic and sellable pieces.

I have rarely been impressed with Helen but Justin has really impressed me the last few challenges.
