project runway

Another “runway freak” here - I think the producers have some influence too, they must think a designer who has a problem responding to criticism makes for good entertainment, judging from the preview of next week’s show there will be more of it.

I have been liking the car commercials where past contestants design outfits for themselves that are inspired by the car design. Kit’s last night was adorable!

I too was suprised that Kenley didn’t go home. I think that it might have been close between Suede and Kenley and they decided on the body of work that they had done. (Of course this is not always the case. I am still upset that Andre was sent home because he had one bad week…keeping Santino because he made better TV, but that is another thread.)

Kenly has a better aesthetic than Suede and her construction is better. The crotch grabbing pants from last night not withstanding.

I am on the fence with Kenley–I do like her sometimes, but the whining has to stop. She also just needs to stop talking and listen to what is said to her. She is way too defensive. I don’t think that she will be in the final three, and if she is, she will not win.

As I watched her last night, I thought that she might have a difficult time getting work after this. She seems difficult to work with and cannot listen to other’s advice.

C’mon guys…you know the producers edit the show and put all that whinyness in just to get you to not like Kenley. You have to look beyond all the cuts and edits…saw a rerun of the episode where they designed the outfits from Saturn car parts and they made a goof with editing. Michael Kors clearly insults the design of biker chick designer (sorry am drawing a total blank…want to call her Stella?) and the final cut had her smiling (genuinely) and saying “thank you”…whoops!

Tango14 thinks Kenley should have been eliminated, too. Those pants were a disaster. Suede may have missed the mark on the rock look just as badly as Kenley missed the hip hop look, but at least his outfit looked good on Jarel.

I have my nightly yogurt and my d’s sitting on the couch doing her calculus homework, while my h’s upstairs trying to watch the president’s speech. This is our “guilty pleasure” that we tell NOONE about, and it’s cool that we do it together. <g> By the end, we were both chanting, “kenley, kenley!” and both very frustrated she wasn’t out. Most of them are all a tad annoying at times, but she’s the worst for us. </g>

zebes

Love, love, love this show. DH forces himself to watch so we can talk about it (love that man!).

I dislike Kenley (seems to have a very limited style), but I also think she’ll grow out of her attitude. It didn’t help her that she had early successes and praise.

As for last night, she would have been out if she had been up against anyone but Suede (and how the heck did he manage to stay in the competition this long? Dude can’t sew sleeves or legs - needs to design for amputees).

I’ve been enjoying the Kenley drama, but I really thought she had to go last night. Actually, every time I think of Kenley I can’t get the vision out of my head of the dress she made with those enormous sleeves. What a look that was!!

Hi Oakmom,

Sybbie’s gonna help you out… You are right, her name is Stella Barbarella Zotis.

sybbie also agrees with inthebiz, tango and the rest of the gang, that poor little annoying it is someone else’s fault Kenley, should have gone home last night.

Sybbie must admit, that she does enjoy jarrell and his snaps (especially the one about kenley trying to squeeze leanne into that kiddie jacket.

Sybbie thinks that Rachel Zoe would agree with her that kenley did not “shut it down” and christian wouls have not called it fierce. However, sybbie does agree with chedva that kenley does make for good tv

while kenley can be annoying at times, i think she is a much better designer, in general, than suede…as in her taste is better and she MAKES better constructed clothes.
but i have a soft spot for kenley cause i think she’s just adorable and straight out of the fifties =)

I MISS CHRISTIAN SO MUCH

Sybbie: Hi and too cute.

I was sure they’d send Kenley home, but Suede hasn’t designed anything anyone liked since the first challenge, and she has.

And I love Korto and think she’s a real challenge to Jarrell. Not as flashy, but she always comes through. I liked her punk look better than Jarrell’s pop look, though I thought his work last week on the daughter challenge was awesome.

Leanne is spotty. I really liked her until she said that nobody wanted to design for us – meaning middle aged ladies. Well think it girl, but don’t say it!

I thought the funniest Kenley moment was when she insisted that the print she chose at Mood was hip-hop because it looked like grafitti.

Oh, I’ve designed a fierce hip hop outfit for Leanne to wear.

I try to do all the challenges. I love fashion, can’t really wear it and can’t sew! But I love to design, and thank goodness my own little Barbie, my D, loves my taste and lets me buy her clothes.

And she buys her bro clothes and calls him “college Ken.”

I do like this year’s contestants, but I have to admit I do miss Christian. I actually miss Chris, too - big, flamboyant, over-the-top Chris. He was always good for a laugh, and it was good to see him for the transvestite challenge this year.

My H watches the last 15 minutes of Project Runway with me and always marvels at how talented these people are. It’s amazing to me how they can design and create these outfits so quickly and then have them turn out so well (at least most of the time.)

LOVE the Runway. My fierce metrosexual H is a costumer and one of the few men I know who can make a cutting remark about a poorly made seam and still keep his fabuloso masculinity intact. We both love Koto (sp?). She is the queen of the whithering glance and can sew most of the contestants into the ground. Go K!

Korto is my favorite also. I am hoping she wins. I think she was robbed of first place several times this season so I’m glad that she finally won one. I also like Jerrel’s little comments and facial expressions.

But boy do I HATE the ads with the naked lady going through airport security and catching the bouquet!!! They are so stupid.

Kenley is an obnoxious whiny little person with an obnoxious whiny little voice and the fact that she’s still on the show just SCREAMS “producer input.”

Korto and Jarrell are going to battle it out as the top two, for sure. I can’t wait for next week - did anyone else notice that they were ALL crying in the preview? But then again, everyone always crashes and burns the challenge before Bryant Park. And the judges always get completely surprised and disappointed.

Korto also won the Olympics challenge.

Mythmom- that’s right. I forgot. She made that pretty white with big legs pants outfit.

Must admit that I googled project runway and bryant park and have looked at everyone’s final collections but I don’t know who they picked as the winner.

sybbie with the low EQ says busyparent, I did see the collections. Some were really nice and others were just a bit more of the same ole, same ole

“Tampax bandit” thread might provide some great ideas and some low cost material to make accessories to go with some of the designs…

A couple of months ago I trailed behind Tim Gunn (by accident, not stalking, honest!) in the Phoenix airport. He was impeccably dressed and impeccably polite as one traveller after another greeted him or asked for his autograph.

Wish I could be absolutely sure that I wouldn’t have been one of the accosters if I hadn’t been so grubby from a long flight…

I guess I’m one of the few who doesn’t like Christian. Too arrogant, his clothes were too “out there” for me, and his final collection I found boring. But of course, once they announced that Posh was the guest judge, there was little question that Christian would win.

I do miss Chris; I would have loved to see the rest of his final collection.
