Props to U of O

Hi @Mimi2018 - my daughter isn’t really an Honors College type. Take a look at this old thread - it starts really old like 2007 but towards last page there are comments from just about 2 years ago. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-oregon/397804-clark-honors-college-p1.html The reasons some people didn’t like CHC mentioned in there are some of the reasons she wasn’t interested in it. She wanted to study what she wanted and not have to take Gen Eds that CHC tells her she has to take. It seemed stuffy and pedantic to her also when we toured it. It’s just not her thing. I don’t know if it has changed. Re applying for a certain dorm: when you do the Housing Application, initially it said you could not list choice of dorm (Hall) only “type of room” of which there are many - single, large single, single with sink, double, large double, etc.! But there are certain dorms that were more desirable to her for various reasons. Towards the end of the Housing Application being open, they suddenly made a change so that you CAN request the halls you want. Don’t know if they will keep this. Also, they have things called ARCs - Academic Residential Communities - so if you say you want to live in a certain ARC (like Living the Language where you live with others who want to speak a foreign language) then you will be placed in a certain Hall due to that. Plus CHC all live in GSH. The other very nice hall is Living Learning Center and it’s a bit more centrally located than GSH.
