Clery Report is the best basis to compare. Of course, you might be more worried about certain crimes based on several factors.
Robbery is hardly the same crime as murder. But, everyone will base their criteria on various things. Personally, I wouldn’t have my kids skip a school unless the violent crime rate was super high ( murder and rape being the criterion we’d use, robberies aren’t pretty but they are common in many American cities so we’d be less worried about them than other violent crimes).
This is another good site to see what crime looks like broken down by neighborhood. The demographics for the area and for the city as a whole aren’t that inspiring. There are multiple red flag on this site pertaining to the area.
