PSA - throw away your romaine lettuce if it came from Arizona

I made a restaurant reservation for my boss the other day. I was told it was for super duper important guest so make sure to reserve the best table available. I did that. I even reconfirmed the reservation one day before to make sure about the best seating.

The day of the reservation, two hours prior to the reservation time, we got a phone call from the restaurant. They are closing the store as of NOW!! They didn’t give us the detail. They just said it’s urgent. We had to scramble to find the fine dining for this super duper important guest (and his entourage - a party of 10)!!

Evening news told us why they closed urgently.

I don’t know which is a better scenario - scramble to get the second-rate restaurant with possible inconvenience for the important guest, or enjoying the fine dining at the best table in a fancy restaurant not knowing they just had a food poisoning incident.

FYI I didn’t buy it thinking because it was organic it wasn’t at risk - I’m just saying that Costco had a couple types of organic romaine in stock - romaine at all - compared to other stores which have had nothing. Since so many other stores have just pulled it off the shelf I figured that either the location of this one was in the clear or that the scare was over - apparently not!
