I don’t think that curve is right. 4 wrong, none skipped, equalled 68 on Math (Saturday test).

That’s what it is on the curve…

4 wrong + 1/4(4) = 5 raw points off.

Look five points to the right of perfect for Math and you have 68.

:)

Yes, thank you, but what about the make-up curve? RunRin, any ideas - or just if you found it harsh or not?

When was there a makeup test!?!?

THE CURVE IS NOT RIGHT because there is NO 64 math for WEDNESDAY OCT.12 when I GOT A 64!!

Um…I took my makeup sometime in November due to Hurricane Katrina.

the make-up curve was VERY lenient

You can get a 64 if you got X and 1/4 or 1/2 pts off

there was a make-up test?

reading about pi, i know 125 digits lame me

*** ON MATH? I tried to look back at my work to see what I’d done wrong. On one problem I wrote that 6/12=2. And then I couldn’t bear it any longer.

Anyway, I should be fine for NMS in my state… I was just pretty disappointed in the math. That’s 6 points lower than last year and 8 points lower than my SAT. And I’m in calculus, dang it!

Ive heard that the national merit scholars commend usually the 96th percentile. im in the 95th… maybe if Im lucky…
also does anyone know what the average scores are for national merit hispanic recognition? for california?

The commended cut-off isn’t based on percentile but on score. Unfortunately, last year’s cutoff was 202 and this year’s is going to be higher than that. However, you did do really well on the PSAT (95%ile’s still VERY good!) so good job! :)

As for the NMHR you asked about, no idea and CA’s normal NMSF cutoff is around 216, isn’t it? Its commended is the same as that anywhere else in the nation - probably 203 this year.

Does anyone know what the texas cutoff is?

216 last year. Go to page 28 of this thread (post #558) for the cutoffs of every state for 2004 and 2005.

My school STILL hasn’t given them back.
