PSAT results!!!!!

^My small school of 20 a grade had 3, beat those percentages!. Also, several years ago 7 out of 25 got NMSF.

I did a lot better than I thought I did. I was expecting a score between a 203 and a 208, but I got a 219 (76M, 75W (!!), 68R (!)). I’m very pleased. :)

For anyone wondering, I am currently a Sophomore. Last year, I took the SAT and got an 1850 (700M, 610W, 540R).

The cutoff for each state will not be known until next August/September. You can look at the historical data to give you a reasonable estimate of this year’s cutoff. It is rare for it to change by more than 2 or 3 points. Around April everyone who is at least commended will get a letter in the mail from NMSC. Then, in August or September the school will get the finalist applications for everyone who made semifinalist. Finally, in January 2012, those who made finalists will hear. After that there is still news about actually scholarship $$, which trickles in in February or March.

I took it as a freshman this year and recieved a 162. In spite of that low score, I’m still pretty proud of myself. Math is definitely my weakest area (49), while I excelled in critical reading (60).

I got a 209 :'(, which is embarrassing because I got a 2250 on the SAT. I live in FL and last year’s cutoff was 210; Do I have a chance?

You have a chance, albeit not a high chance. I know that in my state, Illinois, the cutoff has remained at 214 for a few years and hasn’t lowered, so I’m not sure if FL’s cutoff will lower at all.

80 M 80 CR 75 W = 235 as a soph!! So excited. Unfortunately this doesn’t count, and of course I’ll fail next year. But happy for now :D

Nice job everyone!
So I still don’t get why semifinalists and cutoff scores come out next year- what takes them so long?

Does anyone wanna be nice enough to list all the correct answers and questions? :)

80CR + 79WR + 70 M (***) =229
whatever. i got 226 last yr (77 +70+79) and a 2320 (760 +780 +780) on the sat so i dont really care. I’m a math science person so its a little odd. oh well. Also on one question the grid in answer was 5/3 and it has that my answer is 3/3 (like that makes sense…). In my test book I wrote 5/3 so idk if I gridded wrong or its a mistake but 229 should be fine for pa so whatever…

233!!
I missed two math questions, one because of careless reading of the question and the second because I labeled my triangle diagram incorrectly. One MC, one FR.

Here’s last year’s list of cut-off scores, if anyone’s interested.

Oh oops, I forgot to mention that it was 80 on WS and CR and 73 for math.

Does anyone know why/want to confirm that the math curve was horrible this year?

YESSAII! Got a 224 this year as a sophomore. CR 69 M80 W75. I got owned by the reading. I didn’t expect this considering that my school only produces a NMSF around every 2 or 3 years (this is out of 2000 kids) people and I had only one night of prep >.<. Sad I know. I’m so bummed, though, because I can’t even qualify for anything due to my grade. Is there even anything one can do with a good sophomore PSAT score?

You can make fun of people with bad scores, but that’s about it.

Scores just came out today for my school and my counselor was at a table handing the packets out during lunch after reminding me that I would have to wait until then when I ran to his office during passing time to try and get my hands on them. :D

CR: 74
M: 73 (Yes, I certainly agree that this curve was harsh!)
W: 78
Total: 225

Pretty great, not as good as the student who pulled a 240 last year, but still, I’m in rainy ol’ Oregon so last year’s cutoff was 215, so I think (and pray) that I will be safe. :)

How do we get psat results

80M
61W

57CR

198

Usually I do a lot better in writing… and mid 600s in CR…

Lol I definitely got made fun of with my 160

Hey guys, I got my PSAT results back and go a 198; I know not great but whatever. Anyways, next to my “Selection Index” it doesn’t show an asterisk which means that “you may be considered for recognition by the National Merit” people. Does this mean I may get commended or what?

Critical Reading - 76 (missed two)
Math - 72 (missed two)
Writing - 75 (missed one, omitted one)

Total 223 :D

I’m in Georgia, so I’m pretty sure I definitely qualify for the cut-off for national merit :)
