PSAT Sat.

@loluwut i was confused because that sentence tied into the previous one, but didn’t seem like the best conclusion?

and for the second paragraph, the first line was about how the laws changed in 1912 and reduced work hours, and the paragraph was about how it led to the strike. I was between “despite original intentions, it led to violence” and “the public opinion was on the workers’ side from the start”?

The third sentence I put “the union organizers provided meals for workers’ families and arranged picket lines”.

@koreankid, didn’t it just mean the the book concluded optimistically…?

when do we get our scores?

I think the SAT writers were thinking about the current economy? I have no idea but optimistic twice sounds too repetitive.

EDIT: Assuming I knew what sanguine was at the time. Which I didn’t.

Meals is definitely correct. I put public opinion was on the workers side, but the general consensus seems to be against us.

oh and also, for the second to last writing, where you had to pick the best subsititution for the answer choice, was it “helped turn” public opinion against the owners or “turned” public opinion against the owners

and for the critical reading vocab questions, the last one in the first section with the critic, where his remarks were expected to be ____ but were ____, was it disparaging? ( i forgot the other aprt of the answer choice)

and for the last vocab question of the section3, it wasnt combative?

i think foreboding has a negative connotation, and there was no “although” or anything, so it needed to match the optimistic part

Scores come in December.

Helped turn. The “turned” choice was too radical, you don’t know any other factors that might have contributed.

helped turn definitely, it was like “helped turn” and transform (something like that). Turned ruins the parallelism.

@aayaa foreboding has a negative meaning of prediction like a bad omen [Foreboding | Define Foreboding at Dictionary.com](Foreboding Definition & Meaning | Dictionary.com)

The third sentence I put “the union organizers provided meals for workers’ families and arranged picket lines”.

-

I feel like I might’ve put something else… like C? What other choices were there?

^it was “although intended to be _, he showed ___”, and I put disparaging & charitableness

Oh crap. I didn’t see the evil part. Dang, for a while I thought I was right.

thanks neojunk and eric, i put helped turn =]

yea me too

@abc i put combative but not sure if its right

Does anyone have any idea what score range you might be in?

I hope I break at least 200. I live in AZ, the dumbest state in US. The cut off for NM here is going to be around 200-207

Oh, did anyone get ludicrous for one of the questions on the CR about Socrates?
