Granted CC is only a small percentage of the applicants. But, it’s been very quiet on the acceptance/denial front here over the past couple of days. Hoping for a big release of decisions before they close for the holiday.
I assume their last day is the 23rd…with them reopening on Jan.4th.
I was just emailed by a theatre department faculty member and he said “You should expect a notification from the University within the next two weeks or so.” Hopefully, this applies to other applicants as well!
You MIGHT be able to squeeze out an answer from an admissions counselor. Simply call admissions and ask to speak to an admissions counselor. (Mon – Fri. 1pm to 5pm EST) The admissions counselor is able to open up your file. But be forewarned, only ask to speak to an admissions counselor if it is a good question, otherwise, they will get annoyed. So, if it is a question that they probably won’t be able to answer, don’t ask :))
@shayyy123 The short answer is, you will hear by January 31st. No admissions rep or anyone who answers the phone will give you more detail than that. The decisions are random. If you don’t hear by the holiday, you will not hear until after the new year. Last year, admissions was closed December 24-January 4th. Nothing is done during that time and then it takes them a few days after getting back before decisions began to be posted again.

General Comments: turnaround was quicker than I expected! I applied 30 nov. Also I was told there was no acceptance email but that’s how I found out - I haven’t even checking the portal at all. Anyone know if they offer merit scholarships or do I have to further apply?
kcarpenterfan (like, really?), Anyway, if you had science or math teachers write you a rec letter for SHC (did you apply?) you would be a strong candidate for a braddock scholarship based on your SATs, ranking and GPA (not sure how you obtain a 4.12 UW). Should have sent SATIIs and AP scores. These are considered for college scholarships in ECoS. People who apply to SHC are automatically considered for the braddock.
You could initiate an application for the millennium scholars program (not sure of the deadline). Read the requirements carefully. It’s a restrictive program that is not a good fit for all. Google it and the Braddock.
Anyway, my question is can I change what school i got in/ appplied to?
For some reason i applied as undecided into DUS accidentally when I wanted to do Smeal Business i’m not sure if it was computer or human error
Really want to go to Penn State and this isn’t a make or break for my enrollment but it would be helpful if I could change it
@lovethej yes I did apply for SHC with a math and English teacher rec. Do I just report AP scores through collegeboard then? That never even crossed my mind tbh! On common app self reporting was an option but obviously psu had its own page. Thanks for the word on scholarships. I’ll be looking them up right after I finish this comment!
I’m not too sure how I got my unweighted GPA either… I sure as heck never got over 100 in anything
Got in today! I heard back in less than 2 weeks! @kcarpenterfan I think you and I are in the same boat; I think they accepted everyone above a certain SAT cutoff, but I’m not sure. Also, I’ve seen that your applying to Princeton SCEA same as me, I hope we both made it past the PA regional adcom, and we both can get accepted (I’m not a fan of my GPA, your rank is wayyy better as well!)
@sr71blackbird argh yes tomorrow at 3pm…! Good luck! Yes I have the grades but that’s certainly not enough… My ECs are so normal (president of German Club) and I literally have nothing that makes me stand out… Pton has been my first choice for a while though!! Good luck again!
@kcarpenterfan I think you’ll be fine, an advantage I have is that i run the worlds largest student STEM organization, but my grades are realllllllllllllyyyyy low for princeton (I did pooorly in class in AP Chem, but I did well on the exam!). Let’s put it this way, 96% of admitted students were in the top 10% of their class, I’m just under I think you have a much better shot than me! Best of luck, and maybe we both get in! and if not, maybe we will see each other here!
This may help everyone who feels SAT may be a bit low. My daughter just got accepted to School of Education at University Park. SAT was 1740 but she was in top 10% of her class and had a 4.0 GPA. It was just released sometime after 10pm tonight if that helps with timing. Good luck to everyone waiting!

General Comments: for those in the pain of “verifying”- I applied on 11/25, my transcript didn’t say “in” until I called them on 12/4 and asked them to. From then until Monday 12/14 late evening I said verifying. I was under review for under 24 hours, and then I was in! Good luck to everyone, idk this is my backup so if all else goes badly see you next year!
