Hello! Can anybody help explain this email from psu I received? I was not even accepted yet but I got an email stating that the FAFSA is now available. With this being sent, what can I assume? Again, I haven’t gotten an admissions decision and I just got an email at 3:16 pm. I checked the portal and my status hasn’t even changed. Thank you so much for the help!

@freckledtatertot I got that too, and I’m not accepted yet either. They probably just sent it to everyone who applied because it said at the bottom that they sent it “to prospective students”

I just got the same email and have not heard back yet also.

Got the same email as well.

@jlhpsu Do you happen to know anything about this email? Because don’t colleges directly send you the link to the FAFSA if you were accepted? Maybe we did receive a decision today, but won’t find out until midnight when the portal updates… Does this make sense?

@freckledtatertot don’t think it means anything, I think it’s sent out to all applicants but for what it’s worth i got this email also.

I got the email as well. I hope this is true!!! That would make sense

@freckledtatertot unfortunately I don’t think the email means anything as far as acceptance goes. All schools requine the FAFSA and will let you know when it’s available. Penn State will let you know via the portal when your decision is available. The emails in the meantime mean nothing. FAFSA would also be required if you were denied to UP but accepted to a branch. Good luck everyone! Finish line of waiting is just ahead!

Why would you only need FAFSA if you get denied from UP? @jlhpsu

We received that email and have already filed the FAFSA. Got similar messages from other schools. It doesn’t directly correspond to your application status, just a reminder to get it done soon.

Is the portal down for anyone else?

I was just able to log in, no update on my son’s application though.
