PSU Class of 2020 Decision Thread

@kimba3842 Yup, still waiting to hear back for Chemical Engineering, hopefully they’ll let us know this week

@marisad32 I don’t know how common it is to be accepted after reapplying for DUS, but it seems like a lot of people are doing that, so it may be somewhat difficult.

Accepted Smeal, University Park Summer 2016
GPA 3.5, SAT 1810

Application was complete in November 30, received the news today! Big snow in Pennsylvania this weekend, but we can’t complain.

Daughter accepted to Penn State Altoona for DUS - she was hoping for summer start at UP, but we knew her stats were low. Anyone know if she’d have a shot at requesting reconsideration for summer start at UP? Her sister’s there and her grandparents live there, so it would be nice to have her in the same place. She’d already indicated it as an option when she applied, so I’m assuming it would still be a no.
gpa 3.7 w
sat 1500

How hard is it for someone to be reconsidered for up and accepted if they applied before priority, are within all of the gpa and sat requirements(middle 50% stuff) and has good leadership and ec’s. Applied only for up with summer option and got denied. want to change to dus and see if that helps. Let me know what the chances are

@Chocohol Sadly, if you already put summer and DUS as an option originally. I think you are wasting your time. But, who knows.

My D a

My D applied for summer 2016 DUS and was denied, received word today. 3.7 GPA 1590 SATS, lots of EC’s, sports, etc. Called admissions today but they wouldn’t budge to be reconsidered. What’s meant to be is meant to be so I guess PSU wasn’t meant to be. It’s fine, I’m sure she will do well wherever she ends up.

@dhs1234 Sorry to hear about your D. Good luck wherever she ends up.

My D was Accepted today to Smeal, Fall, UP. We Are THRILLED!
Applied first week of Sept so it’s been a long wait.
Scores were already there from Spring tests.
Best of Luck to all still waiting!

Stats:
SAT: 1960 (650R/660M/650W)
GPA: 3.9W
ACT 29
14 Honors, 2 APs, Good EC’s, PA State Tennis Quarterfinals 2yrs.

Does anyone one know if being asked to apply to Schreyers Honors College will increase the chances to get regular admission to PSU main. I know one must gain admission first , correct?

Anyone heard yet for Eberly, UP (premed/health science) yet ??

@Phampton62 everyone who applies gets reminders about Schreyers, it unfortunately has nothing to do with your chances. Schreyer’s admission process is an entirely separate process with its own application that includes very essential essays.

I’m pre Med at eberly for UP and still haven’t heard anything for whoever was asking. Been waiting since early November.

Can someone please tell me if they will update the portal tonight? I’m wondering if the decisions that were made today are updated tonight or on Monday. Does anyone know? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I appreciate all the great questions and responses. D applied mid Oct, SATs delayed due to college board but application complete by 11/11ish. Still waiting for news. It is stressful.

I am shocked. Denied from Smeal University Park with a 28 ACT, 3.64 GPA, OOS Ohio with a good Essay and very good EC’s. What can i do? should I email them or something? I thought i would get in no doubt.
