Lock the door. A good friend of mine’s daughter’s dorm apartment was entered by a male student resident of same dorm apartment, while she and roommate were sleeping. They got lazy about the door. They were in a secure building. This was their second year and no issues so far. All interior doors from hall. Thankfully, her screaming and posturing scared him away (broke through window) when she awoke with him standing over her.
He was later caught and arrested. His cell phone had a video of him assulting another female student.
He was an international student and once bailed from jail by his father, they tried to run. Got caught in a neighboring state hiding out, so hopefully will have a longer sentence. Had he been able to get back to his home country, no telling if he would have been ever held accountable. Just not worth it for convenience.
I lock my house door when I’m home, esp alone. Earlier this year, a man murdered his brother, hijacjed a car, wrecked it on a curve 3streets away from my house, and went door to door, trying to get in a house. Police shot and killed him, thankfully, before he found an unlocked door.
