Puerto Rico without power

Yikes…the whole island of Puerto Rico is currently without electricity. Not a good thing ever, but especially bad during Easter week, tourists with school vacations there, families preparing for the holiday.

Grid is down.

Unfortunately they’ve had many issues over the years.

They’re our fellow citizens. Our government should invest there as a source of national pride.

We know several people who have homes on the island. This is awful for the residents there, and their tourism business. I hope there is some help available for them.

A bff is there now visiting family and confirms that they are without electricity. I wonder whether they have a generator.

ETA: Just heard back. Small generator to keep the fridge and fans going, but the mom turns it off at night. There’s an ocean breeze where they are. First time an island blackout has happened while my friend has been there.

How will this affect air travel for those who are there for spring break (which is in the public schools here this week). Generators at the airport?

For example, American Airlines flights this evening are delayed three hours out of San Juan.

I’m sure assisting our fellow citizens in PR will be a top priority for our federal government.
