Close enough to a full ride that you can make up the difference with a part-time job at near minimum wage. Our estimates from 4 colleges in the RD round were pretty consistent at around $5000 out of pocket. That breaks down to: 1) about $2400 for tuition, room and board – which can be paid for with a work/study job on campus for 10-12 hours a week during the school year; and 2) about $2600 for estimated out-of-pocket costs like travel to/from school, books and misc. costs, which can be earned over the summer. Note that you can save quite a bit from this estimate if you buy your textbooks used from Amazon and shop ahead for the cheapest airfares during breaks. You can also go way over this estimate if you drink a lot of alcohol, go clubbing or decide to fly to Cancun for Spring Break!
