Question about Harvard / Oxford

Although this is an old topic I would like to point out that Bristol most certainly is not second tier. Entrance requirements for law are AAA and as far as I can see there is nothing higher than AAA!!! Furthermore, it really depends on what subject you wish to study at degree level as to whether Oxford is better than Bristol. Bristol law students have a much higher employment rate by magic circle firms. It is also fair to point out that I ahve friends who have attended both Oxbridge and Cambridge and were given offers which were then reduced when they didnt get the grades. If you dont get the grades for Bristol on results day you dont get in! Bristol is one of the most highly over-subscribed universities in England!

These days many students are applying to Bristol as their first choice rather than Oxbridge then Bristol as second.

I believe you are a student there or an aspirant one, right?

the earlier poster who mentioned it being easier to get into oxbridge as an international is very wrong. it is much harder. i’m uncertain about oxford, but last year cambridge took three u.s. citizens directly from high school. yes, three. cambridge’s acceptance rate over all courses is about 25%, but even so i think more than twelve people applied.

on the other hand, it’s difficult to get into any british university as an international. they are public schools (in the american sense) and exist to serve the population of the uk, and to a lesser extent the eu. and of course there is zippity doo dah financial aid.
