If you do decide to transfer, make sure of your standing with a semester system. My friend wanted to transfer out but decided against it. The school with a semester year still considered him a freshman after 3 quarters at Chicago.

I just want to apologize for some things being said in this thread:

It’s clear that there are some UChicago students very confused about Brown and there are some Brown people (it seems from my postings on this board to be primarily prefrosh, not students) who are speaking a bit out of hand about UChicago.

I think we all can agree that after one semester at UChicago, Creativemind needs to delve a bit deeper into his/her educational goals and desires as well as doing quite a bit more research on the places he/she is applying to before going forward with this process.

While citing they’re unhappy at UChicago, the list posted in this thread of possible transfer locations shows no cohesion other than being Ivy League schools and demonstrates that Creativemind has not come to the conclusion that atmosphere can be a huge factor in success at a school. Beyond that, to think that any of those schools will bring measurable amounts of greater prestige and value to his degree is almost ridiculous. UChicago is a very well respected top institution that produces wonderful students who, if UChicago was a good environment for them, are as prepared as anyone else and as respected as anyone else to enter academia or the work force.

I rarely post in other school’s forums, but I do want to make sure Creativemind has a chance to read all that I’ve and others have been saying before making such an important decision without being informed.

That school is an idiot.

Thank-you for your post, modestmelody. It is clear that gentlefolk and scholars reside at Brown.

To the OP:
Another possible option you might consider is to take a year off to participate in a social service program. I wish that I had done this back in the day.

Haha very interesting rabbling/arguing going on in this forum and the one that was linked to. I’m just gonna throw it out there that Creativemind might actually be more interested in our arguing than the answer he wants, since I am pretty sure in both threads he got the same resounding answer after a few posts.

For my two cents, I think that for ANY school in a certain “tier,” are absolutely incomparable–it eventually gets to be like “is the best tasting orange in the world better than the best tasting apple or grape in the world?” You just can’t say grapes are better than oranges–some people like one fruit over another! So, basically, Brown is Brown, Chicago is Chicago. The end. You decide which you are, both schools are where you want them to be. If Creativemind thinks he’s more of another school, then good luck.

For the love of God, stay away from Wesleyan. I do not want to go to school with someone like you. o_O
