questions about orientation

Your parents won’t miss out on anything if they don’t attend orientation. A lot of the information given to them is on auxiliary services at Stony Brook, such as the CPO (Center for Protection and Outreach), Student Health Services, tutoring, school health insurance and financial aid. It’s a lot of useless information. My parents actually left halfway through it because they were bored.

You don’t pay for anything at orientation. To make a payment for your student bill, use SOLAR pay online or visit the bursar. Your student account needs to be paid in full, be on a time payment option or be covered by pending financial aid by sometime at the end of August or the beginning of September.

If you commute to Stony Brook, orientation part II only takes place on two days and you have to commute both days. There isn’t an on campus option for housing during orientation part II.
