The worst of winter is about 3 months long in Richmond - December thru February are the coldest months, with winter daytime high temps ranging from upper 40’s to lower 50’s (F). They do occasionally have lower temperatures and get a little bit of snow(usually no more than several inches several times throughout the winter) or a little icy precipitation, but the temperatures are usually high enough that it is melted and gone in day or two.

The winter weather is not usually bad enough to cancel classes and any snow on walkways is shoveled/plowed away to keep them accessible and safe to walk on. As far as East Coast US weather is concerned, Richmond is considered to be a relatively mild climate.
