Go for the Fall!
Apply now for the fall. If the visa is on time, you will start this fall. If the visa is delayed, you will start in the spring.
Good luck!
These schools are NOT need blind for admissions AND meet full need for international students.
There are only FIVE colleges in this country that are both need blind for admissions AND meet full need for all acceoted international students. These three colleges are not on that list.
I agree with applying to UAH for the fall and if the documentation doesn’t come in you can request to ‘defer’ the admissions and scholarship until the Spring. I think most colleges who are interested and actively recruiting top international students understand that there is occasional delays with regard to paperwork and visas. Once you are stateside and show good grades, you could consider looking into transferring to one of the more ‘elite’ schools on your list. I didn’t notice if you mentioned your preferred course of study/major. Note that UAH is an excellent school for engineering and computer programing with a ton of local internship opportunities; and Huntsville is a city on the move upward with steady growth and revitalization (I’m from North Alabama and my D18 has 3 friends attending school there). It is also nicely positioned geographically close even larger cities of Nashville, Atlanta, Memphis and Birmingham. You may even realize you prefer the Southern climate to that of New England! Best of Luck!
OP, I think you need to sit back for a bit and think about what posters have said here. You’re asking for generous aid from a top college, as an international, a school that’s need blind. Your family will have some trouble paying their share because they support others. The US colleges aren’t easy for most families here. I’m sorry, but you’re asking for a break many US kids don’t get.
@lookingforward It seems that OP is now applying to UAH, which from what I know is a decent idea. Do you think there is something he is missing?
It’s fine to apply to UAH. Maybe he gets in. But I’m frankly uneasy about some of this- the little his parents can pay, the comment that, “if I did my CSS profile “well”, I could at least get a substantial amount,” (which sounds like manipulating,) hoping he can use a different base year, and more.
I’m interested in majoring in Computer Engineering and Robotics, so this news is basically pure esctasy to me.
Basically everything that’s been said here is what the UAH admissions officer told me, about being able to defer admission. I really appreciate the posts, as this website is far less critical than others like Quora (where you get messages like,“stay in your country and work hard”)
