Tigneey – thanks so much for your message. My daughter is really excited to be going to LMU next year. The more we look at the school the more excited she gets. We’ve booked her trip to go to orientation in June and she just can’t wait to get there. We really have not heard anything negative about LMU and I believe she is one of those people who will also make the most of her experience. She knows that there is a lot to get involved in and she is ready!!

I, too, hope that my daughter is happy at LMU. It will just be very difficult for me having her so far away – since we are in NJ. May I ask where you are from? Just wondering about the adjustment being very far away from home.

Thanks again.

MommaBlair–
Well fortunately I am close by, I live in Anaheim (the Happiest Place on earth lol) but she is an only child, so in that respect it was a little hard. It would be hard for me to be that far away from her, but on the other hand, it offers you a “reason” for a california vacation…sometime in winter, when its really cold in NJ -
As far as adjustment goes, I don’t think miles matter because it is a process, there will be good days and there will be days that are rough, but isn’t that true at home too?? Believe me, they told the parents at my orientation not to “rescue” them for every little situation because it will help them in the long run if they work through the little issues they might have themselves…ie - roommates, stress of homework/tests, feeling “alone”…the best we can do is encourage and guide.
Freshmen year I saw my daughter almost every week because she was still dancing in Orange County, but this year I almost have to track her down (haha), but it is nice to see the young woman she is becoming, and I don’t have anything negative to say about LMU except maybe cost!
Good Luck and welcome to the LMU family!
