^Do any Juniors at your school take AB?

bump…anyone else wanna comment?

Easiest AP’s:
AP Calc AB - With the instructor we have, if you’re struggling with it, you will get the help. We’ve had many years with 100% passing rates on the test, in her past 8 years of teaching AB, she’s had 5 kids fail the test I believe.
AP Calc BC - Same instructor as above teaches it, in the past 6 years of teaching it none of her students have failed the course.
AP Spanish Language - Being one of the smaller classes offered, there’s plenty of hands-on teaching and each student gets individual attention on their strong and weak points. Very, very experienced instructor.

Medium difficulty courses:
AP USH - Not on the harder or easier spectrum of the AP courses offered at my school, but definitely a great course that needs to be taken. The workload is a bit heavy, especially when added to a large plethora of other AP courses, but you’ll come out prepared for anything at the end of the year. Kids come out of this class better Americans and better citizens, the instructor is extremely patriotic and is the poster-child of an APUSH teacher
AP English Language - Tiring course definitely. Many kids tend to drop the course halfway through the school year, because they can’t handle it. For the student who doesn’t mind writing a good 2-3 essays in a 90-minute time period, I’d suggest to take it.
AP English Literature - Same instructor as above, same rules apply really. Only problem here, is that if you aren’t an extremely fast reader, you’ll fall behind. Quickly.

Harder courses:
AP US Govt. - It’s really a self-taught class. You’re provided with the book, a couple of tests, and a class period. The only thing the instructor really does is keep students up to speed on current events.

There are more, but I’m tired and don’t feel like typing anymore.

1) AP Physics B (12)- The teacher did not even know some of the material.
2)AP Biology (11-12)- A ton of homework and extra work but the students learn.
3) AP Calc AB (12)- Hard, but curves are good
4) AP Spanish (12)- No one in my school knew spanish. lol
5) AP Chemistry (11-12)- Curves are good, but material never understood
6) AP Stats (11-12)- Easy to cheat, everything, take home and in school tests were online, that’s how people did well.
7) AP US History (11-12)- Hard and no one learns
8) AP Psych- (12) -Easy and the people who cared were set for the exam
9)AP US Government & Politics (12)- joke
10)AP English Literature (12)- Super joke lol

Easy:
US Gov. (9) - 5 pages of daily reading and open note quizzes the next day = 5 on the AP
APUSH (10) - Fun lectures, easy quizzes (we had “Communist” class notes quizzes sometimes)
Comp Sci A (11) - Joke. Kids do nothing except play flash games. The good students finish all their projects the first day they receive them. Most kids finished their first semester final within 20 minutes. The allotted time was 2 hours.
Psych (11) - Easy course, but the kids are mostly slackers and the teacher hates slackers. He’s a great teacher though.
Spanish Language (10, 11, 12) - A mixed IB/AP class with a lot of different grade levels. IB Spanish 4 ends up being more difficult than IB Spanish 5/AP Spanish. Virtually no work except easy reading comprehension and a monthly essay, oral, or vocabulary quiz. Fun class too. Prepares you well for the AP.
AB (11, 12) - Joke class. If you have a bad teacher, you end up not being able to learn anything.
Macro/Microeconomics (11, 12) - Same class as IB Economics students. Everyone learns the same thing, one semester for Macro and one for Micro. Daily reading and quizzes just like in government. People easily 5 the exams.

Medium:
Statistics (10, 12) - Seniors who’ve finished BC and sophomores who have an empty elective take this class. Apparently the seniors gossip and chill every period and nobody learns anything.
Chemistry (11, 12) - Not a very easy course, but kids feel comfortable with the material by the end of the year.
BC (9, 10, 11, 12) - Mixed class. Ranges from easy to difficult depending on the units. Very comprehensive and requires some level of study.
Lang (11) - The teacher is an English hipster. Turns out that you can only get As by writing about obscure/unique topics or ones that nobody else chooses.
Lit (12) - Great class from what I hear. Difficult work, but good class.
Chinese (9, 10, 11, 12) - Lots of native speakers from China take this. The native speakers from the U.S. are more harshly criticized by the teacher because they can’t speak as well. I think everyone who takes this 5s though.
Enviro (11, 12) - Slacker class. Teacher makes it relatively hard. Labs are toughest.
Euro (11, 12) - Great teacher who preps you well. Still a relatively tough class.
World (11, 12) - Pretty good teacher. Again, a rough class for anyone regardless.

Hard:
Music Theory (10) - Doesn’t prepare you at all for the AP. Actually a prerequisite for IB Advanced Music. Get a 5 by intense practice or having perfect pitch and not doing anything.
Physics C: Mechanics and E&M (11, 12) - Kids fail the AP because there’s never time to finish covering E&M. One of the hardest courses at my school. IB Physics without Calculus is nowhere near as difficult, people say.
Biology (11, 12) - Apparently it is impossible to get an A in IB Biology. Kids who take AP instead take double-period. It involves intense reading and labwork, or so I’ve heard. A lot of work, and then the AP doesn’t end up covering much.
French (10, 11, 12) - Apparently the French department is very strong. Lots of work, regular vocabulary and conjugation quizzes, etc. If Spanish was this hard, I might be able to speak it well.
Spanish Lit (11, 12) - All the IB Spanish 6, 7, and AP Spanish Lit are in the same class. Differentiated instruction I guess. Apparently a harder version of IB Spanish 4, only much much harder. Teacher is really nice.

School doesn’t offer Human Geography, Comparative Government, or Physics B.

Hardest to Easiest
AP Physics( 11/12)
AP Chemistry(11/12)
AP Calculus AB(12)-Usually not enough people sign up for BC to have a class
AP US History( 10)- Generally the first AP people take, so if you get a certain teacher it can be a difficult adjustment for some.
AP Biology(11/12)- Maybe I’m biased, but I didnt think it was that hard, and we had a great teacher when I took it.
AP Stats(12)
AP Psych(11/12)
AP Lit(12)- poems can be really difficult to understand, esp w/ the teacher we have
AP World(11)
AP Euro(11/12)- not really taken seriously at our school
AP Music Theory(11/12)- class is easy, test is hard
AP Language(12)
AP Spanish Lang/Lit(11/12)- Usually done as independent studies
AP Art- independent study, dont know much about

AP Chem (most work, tons of labs, lot of self teaching)
AP Bio (lots of reading)
APUSH (a ton of reading, a crappy teacher)
AP Spanish
AP Calc AB (hard teacher)
AP French
AP Physics (great teacher, average work load)
AP Stats
AP Art (not hard, but probablt one of the most time consuming classes at our school, kids are in the art room for several hours after school everyday)
AP lit
AP Calc BC (easy teacher, super lax)
AP Euro
