<p>In my experience, this doesn’t fairly characterize most grad student TAs. Their work as TA is supporting their graduate studies in their chosen field. Most are aiming to become academics and their work as TA is a valuable training ground, giving them teaching experience in their chosen field that will help them land full-time academic jobs later. Consequently, most are diligent, enthusiastic, and focused, though of course their talent and skill as teachers is highly variable. Of course, the talent and skill of professors as teachers is also highly variable.</p>
