@ak2018 How’d you get approved for Intro to Aerospace? (next thread post, rate above me)

@tomahawk78 It’s actually through a NASA high school program called The Virginia Aerospace and Science Technology Scholars (VASTS). I’m 99.99% sure I’ll be in the class, you’re admitted into the program so long as you have a 2.7+ GPA and write an essay. I’d take the class from December to April next year online, while getting college credit, and if I qualify, I’d go to the NASA VASTS Summer Academy. I was in the Virginia Earth System Science Scholars (VESSS) program this year, took a college class in Geology, got an A, and now I’m working on my team PowerPoint on Global Pollution in the Pacific that I’ll be presenting at the one week VESSS summer Academy in 17 days. The class was FREE too. I wouldn’t have been able to afford that otherwise.

So yeah, that’s what happened. I’m really excited too. The curriculum actually says we’ll be learning about NASA’s history, redesign designs that are currently used on the International Space Station, lunar exploration and the Apollo missions as well as planning out a mission to Mars!

8.5/10 Definitely seems doable. Pre-Cal is a breeze and your APs aren’t super hard. Should be a moderately challenging and fun year!

Rising Junior:

Summer: APGOPO online

First Semester:

APUSH
AP Comp Sci
AP Calc BC

APGOPO (online this summer)
AP Lang
AP Bio

Super rigorous! I’m planning on taking a few of the courses you are taking when I’m in senior year (Micro, Macro, GoPo, Lang), but I already took Comp Sci A.

Junior Schedule:

PLTW Principles of Engineering
PLTW AP Computer Science Principles
AP Calculus BC
AP US History
AP English Language and Composition
AP Physics 1

@tomahawk89 My school also has an Intro to Aerospace course. Not sure if there are NASA credits, but I know the teacher used to work in NASA (but for some reason doesn’t teach calculus - it’s ok we have another godlike teacher for that) and has gotten a couple awards with our school team at science fairs.

That’s super intense, have fun with all those AP’s though! If you enjoy the subjects you’re taking you’ll do great.
Sophmore schedule:
2D Studio Art
Photography 1
English 2 Honors
AP World History
AP Biology

Wow! Taking two APs sophomore year is pretty impressive, I don’t even think my school allows you to take more than one! Also, I presume you are interested in digital arts, based on your elective choices?

*side note, I ran out of honors classes to take, and due to scheduling I couldn’t get into Latin 4 HN or Precalculus HN without switching AP Mac for two regular level classes (regular Econ is a half credit at my school). Schedule-wise I couldn’t fit it any more APs either, the only ones that worked were ones I’d already taken. Dual enrollment is being offered for the first time this year, but I’d have to drop my CNA course (that I took 4 or 5 pre req classes for already) in order to take English 101, so although I made it into the program I opted out.

10/10! CNA classes seem so hard omg

My nerd friend’s junior schedule:
AP Calc BC
AP Physics 1
AP Chem
AP English Lang
AP US History
AP Computer Science (idk if A or Principles)

10/10, I both envy and fear them.

Spanish 2 H (maybe 3 H if I test out of it, I already know almost all of Spanish 2)
Required Courses: Phys Ed
