The hardest part about Japanese for me is the writing. Since Japanese and Korean have similar words and sentence structures, I’d have no problem picking up the language in terms of speaking…

On the other hand, I think learning how to write it would basically be impossible for me to do.
It’s like Chinese. Chinese has the easiest grammar in the world and the words aren’t too hard to learn either since so many Korean words are taken from Chinese ones. Even if I studied Chinese for 4 years though, I’d still get a 1 because I’d fail at reading and writing characters. -____-

post above me 9/10

How could I make it a 10?

Reading in Japanese is the worst. In writing you can get away without knowing any kanji, but when you try to read even children’s books without knowing a few hundred to a few thousand kanji you’re screwed.

I’m an Australian student from Victoria, fyi. Normally, students take 4-6 courses over two years from the VCE. VCE = Victorian Certificate of Education. Basically, we are scored on every subject against the whole state, then ranked and given a percentile from 0.05 (worst) to 99.95 (absolute best, nigh impossible). The system dominates our final two/three years, and is used purely for university admissions. (i.e. you apply to a university course, they accept how ever many people they can from the top scorers. No extracurricular activities, essays etc. are considered. Except things like medicine where they want an interview, or fine arts/architecture/media where they want a folio or dance/music where they want an audition.) (In case you didn’t guess, Australian degrees are a lot more specialised than US degrees; one of the reasons I want to come to the USA to study  )

Wait why did swinter and i get low scores
we"re doing the best we can

Well I think I deserve a 10 because I’m taking 12 courses and the only one in 10th grade to ever have 4 APs, 5 honors and 2 college classes. But hey, life’s not fair.

I said 8 (which isn’t even low…) because you have 2 electives and all your classes are easy, I know you are doing the best you can, but based on rigor…Plus, Physical science is like the lowest of the low in science courses

but I have to take physical science :frowning: it’s required
and is two electives really that bad? I thought most students took that many… now i am sad
but thank you
