RD acceptances are in 2 days!

I applied to RPI regular decision but I never got a letter or email from them about if I got accepted or not
I checked my account to see if I got accepted this morning but it only said:

^Does that mean I’m accepted?? And was I supposed to receive a letter or email?
Sorry if my question is dumb haha

I think this is pointing out some lacks in your application, that will not spoil your admission anyway but we need to improve it while studying there… Are you an international student ??? If yes , check your TOEFL score and the cut-off of the university, other wise no idea… Contact admission office to clarify

So much for a dead forum. We just hit 10k views.

Has anyone who did not receive a financial aid package originally received one yet? I checked today and there still is no financial aid link in my letter

Still no aid link for me either. I emailed them and still no response.

@newstine no i am not an international student but thank you anyway!

@Soxfan07 yeah me too :/. Hopefully they’ll come soon because I am pretty anxious

I emailed them about financial aid and they said they are still putting together packages that will be updated on our pages ONLINE within 2 weeks.

The US News Rankings are a flawed system and you should not be choosing your college simple because of a “rank”. If you do your research, one of the major criteria for the ranking is student:faculty ratio at a school. At northeastern, approx. 1/3 of the students are on co-op at a time. This makes the student:faculty ratio seems extremely high, when in reality many of the students are not attending classes at a specific time. Northeastern is actually a bit harder to get into than RPI, ranking is arbitrary.

I’m new to CC, but this thread and others I have read include a number of posts from kids or parents wondering how a particular applicant could have been accepted or rejected, given their scores, grades, EC’s, etc. Something I suspect they overlook is the role that the one element of the application no one sees plays in the college’s decision – namely, teacher recs. Many kids will say they “know” or think they know they got a “great” teacher rec. But the recs are confidential. I’m just speculating here but I suspect some recs really are “great” while some are close to damning with faint praise – and in either case, the kids and parents never know it. This is the most logical explanation I’ve come up with in the case of my son who is applying now – and who has so far done better with acceptances (including RPI) than we thought he would do, and better than some other kids in his HS with higher numbers (and no, he’s not a recruited athlete, legacy, or URM, not does he have any other singular talent/accomplishment of the kind colleges note when they boast about their incoming class).

Finally received the aid link today in my letter

I still haven’t received the link to financial aid. Hopefully tomorrow!

Son received financial aid letter online today, $35K Leadership award!!

Our son got wait listed. RPI was a top choice for him. But now we will have to wait and see. In the mean time he has gotten into few good California schools already.

@CAprof, not to rain on the parade of the hopes of getting off the wait list, but last year they extended acceptances to 12 out of 3700 wait listed. Those odds make Stanford and Princeton look like safeties.

What CA schools is he in?

Accepted!

GPA

3.5 Weighted

ACT

32 Composite
28 English
32 Reading
33 Math
35 Science

Bad extra curriculars.

Good essay.

Anyone else still not heard on financial aid?

@mom999 still waiting here too :/

I honestly think they are just slow. Patience=virtue.

Just heard on merit aid today, pretty happy with it.
